About the Item
A Viennese Austrian art deco enameled Vinaigrette box.
This is a beautiful box created in Vienna Austria during the early art deco period, back the 1915 and 1918. This Viennese box is closely to mint condition with no trace of use, is very rare and was carefully crafted in solid .935/.999 silver with high polished finish. This elegant box display a high caliber of workmanship and is extensively decorated with engraving and an outstanding guilloche engine turned patterns, which are topped with applications of green-gray and blue glass enamel. Designed in a rectangular shape with sharp edges and carved translucent scrolls. Have an hexagonal cartouche centered by an oval frame, which is decorated by an incised engraving of an stylized water fountain. The rare box is fitted with a cover lid on a flush nine-barrels hinge. The interiors are accented with gold vermeil.
Weight: 145.5 Grams, (93.26 Dwt).
Measurements: 15 mm by 89 mm by 61 mm (0.59 x 3.5 x 2.41 Inches).
Hallmarks: Both parts are stamped with Austrian-Hungarian marks; the mark for the city of Vienna, the maker's mark and the case serial numbers 449.
Condition: The overall condition of this Austrian art-deco box is very good. Beside the little normal wear, there is no damage to the silver. The enameled parts are secured in the settings. This piece has been carefully inspected to guarantee the condition and authenticity.
