About the Item

A striking and large-scale sculptural candelabrum by celebrated American designer Arthur Umanoff, featuring a wrought iron frame finished in its original teal enamel—a rare and sought-after variation—and wrapped in woven cane detailing. Umanoff’s work blended modernist rigor with handmade warmth, and this piece is a perfect example of that signature balance. The teal enamel finish, far less common than the typical black, offers a vibrant, unexpected pop of color that highlights the linear silhouette and rhythmic candle cups. The cane wrapping softens the geometry and adds an organic textural contrast, a hallmark of Umanoff’s interest in mixing industrial and natural materials. Known for his work in iron, rattan, wood, and leather, Umanoff created accessible yet distinctly modern pieces that helped shape postwar American design. His work was often sold through Raymor and other forward-thinking retailers, and appeared in both designer-specified interiors and stylish, design-conscious homes throughout the 1950s and ’60s. This piece can serve as a centerpiece on a large dining table, console, or mantel, or even as a sculptural object in its own right—bringing a playful but disciplined presence to both vintage and contemporary interiors. We also have a companion example in original black enamel available. Please inquire if interested in acquiring a pair or set. A rare opportunity to collect an iconic American design object in one of its most uncommon and desirable colorways—at once timeless, textural, and bold.

Table Lamp by Ugo Zaccagnini
By Ugo Zaccagnini
Located in Kilmarnock, VA
A beautifully proportioned and sculptural table lamp by Ugo Zaccagnini, featuring a soft robin’s egg blue crackled glaze with subtle tonal variation and surface depth. The gentle craquelure enhances the organic curves of the ceramic body, lending the lamp a tactile quality and a sense of quiet movement. The original rosewood cap and base provide a rich material contrast—dark, refined, and architectural against the delicate surface of the glaze. This interplay of texture and tone reflects the studio’s deep sensitivity to form and finish. Zaccagnini, one of Italy’s most respected 20th-century ceramicists, worked at the intersection of tradition and modernity. Known for his sculptural forms and refined glazes, his work was widely exhibited and retailed through top galleries and luxury decorators in postwar Europe and the United States. This lamp’s silhouette is bold yet fluid—equally at home in a richly layered interior or a clean-lined, organic modernist space. The cool, pale blue makes it a versatile design element: it can act as a subtle pop of color in a neutral room, or as a cool, calming contrast against deeper hues and dark woods. Designers such as Gio Ponti, Billy Baldwin, or Kalef Alaton...
