Pair of French 19th Century Louis XVI St. Ormolu Candelabra Lamps
About the Item
An elegant and large scale pair of French 19th century Louis XVI st. ormolu candelabra lamps. Each five arm lamp is raised by a circular base with a mottled border and a wrap around beaded and tied berried laurel band centering richly chased designs of charming musical instruments amidst leaves and branches set on a hammered background. The baluster shaped central supports display large acanthus leaves and spiral fluted designs in a rich satin and burnished finish leading up to intricately detailed rams heads tied with elegant swaging garlands. At the center are charming urn reserves with finely chased berried palmettes, charming floral garlands, and a reeded border. Above are the elegantly scrolled arms also displaying a superb spiraled design adorned with luxuriant acanthus leaves leading to foliate bobeches and fluted floral candle cups which center the single central arms decorated in the same manner. All original gilt throughout.
