Pair Of French 19th Century Louis XVI St. Ormolu Candelabras Lamps
About the Item
An exquisite pair of 19th century Louis XVI st. ormolu candelabras, attributed to F. Barbedienne. Each candelabra is raised on a circular finely chased ormolu base with acanthus leaf styled supports. Above is a moulded Rouge Griotte base below the ormolu socle pedestal. At the patinated bronze body are superbly chased scenes of cherubs at play, in the manner of Clodion. The handles on each side are accented by Satyr masks, joined by swaging garlands. Seven scrolled ormolu arms ending in candlecups and saucers, centered by a foliate finial. All original gilt.
