About the Item
A striking and high quality pair of French 19th century Louis XVI st. Belle Époque period onyx and ormolu candelabras. Each six arm candelabra is raised by a square base with cut corners with fine rosettes below beaded and berried laurel wrap around bands. Above the onyx socle shaped pedestals are large acanthus leaves encasing the elegant elongated bodies showcasing most decorative onyx veins. At each side are striking richly chased satyr masks connected by charming intricately detailed swaging floral garlands tied with ribbons. Above the elegantly curved necks are the beautiful scrolled arms with fine Rinceau designs, spiral movements adorned with acanthus leaves and berried laurel fluted candle cups. At the center are straight arms decorated in the same manner and flanked by impressive intricately detailed eagle heads.
