About the Item

Pair of large Louis XVI style gilt and patinated bronze cherub candelabra French, 20th century Height: 147cm, width: 69cm, depth: 69cm Impressive in size and exceptional in the quality of their execution, these excellent candelabra are made in the ornate and elegant Louis XVI style. Two pairs of bronze cherubs hold aloft a six-branched candelabra cornucopia in each piece; the gilt and patinated bronze elements contrast excellently, and the branches finish in moulded glass covers in the shape of flame lights. The branches are florally decorated with acanthus leaves. At a metre and a half in height, these stunning candelabra offer the perfect, imposing, and impressive presence to any choice interior.

A pair of large Louis XV style gilt-bronze and Samson porcelain candelabra French, Late 19th century Measures: Height 68cm, width 54cm, depth 36cm Crafted with great artistry and skill by the Samson porcelain manufactory in late nineteenth century France, these exceptional candelabra feature superb full-length porcelain subjects set within elaborate gilt-bronze lighting branches. Made in the Louis XV style, each pair, symmetrical to each other in design, consists of five-lighting branches, a mount for the porcelain, and elegantly sculpted bases. The porcelain figures are that of a man and woman playing musical instruments, wistfully gazing towards each other while they stroll and play; he plays a variation on the bagpipes, probably the French cabrette, while she plays a large guitar-like stringed instrument.
