About the Item

19th century, Pair of French Gilt Bronze Candlesticks, Louis XV style This pair of small candlesticks was made of gilded bronze in France in the 19th century, inspired by the Louis XV style. The candlesticks have a richly chiselled stem with rocaille elements and phytomorphic shoots that twist around the central axis, creating a tortile effect that gives movement and momentum to the structure. The base is mixed and tiered, also moved by rocaille ornaments. The gilding is made of matt gold and polished gold, finished with agate stone. The candlesticks are very decorative and can be used for example over a surtout de table or in a table. Rare in these dimensions, they have often been used on desk tables. They can also be placed above consoles and chest of drawers, combined with antique furniture or contemporary taste. New images will be inserted soon.
