Royal Copenhagen Pair Aluminia Faience Hand Painted Candle Holders

About the Item

A stunning Danish mid-century Royal Copenhagen pair Aluminia Faience candle holders decorated with hand painted floral designs dating from 1959. The heavily and solid made quality porcelain candle holders are of simple bowl shape standing on a narrow round unglazed foot rim with a central narrow candle hole. The outer bodies are glazed in a satin black finish which is also applied to the base while the inner candle holder is painted with a simple floral design with brown and yellow petals arranged around the central hole and painted against an off-white ground. Both have printed makers marks along with artist marks INA and both are numbered 2852. The candle holders have a date code u below the M in Denmark dating the pair from 1959. These very stylish candle holders typify and simplicity and quality of Danish design at its best. Provenance: Acquired in the UK Art Market. In good condition with light wear associated with age and use.
