Large Antique Gothic Revival Wooden Church Candlestick with Hand-Carved Angels
About the Item
Enormous, early 20th century candleholder.
If you are looking for an impressive and decorative candlestick to decorate an entrance or a corner in your living room then this Gothic Revival rarity could be perfect for you. The size makes it impressive, the hand-carved cherubs make it decorative and meaningful and the wax-like finish and color make it extraordinary. Apart from some traces of old age and use (consistent with its age) this church or monastery candlestick is in wonderful condition. The wear, obviously, is also what gives this piece its really authentic look and feel. This large and weighty candlestick is made of solid wood which is slightly overlayed with plaster. This was almost always done with wooden candlesticks and candelabras so that the paint/coloring would better stick and last longer. The patination of this candlestick was done with a candlewax-like paint and with a large candle on top this antique will create a one of a kind atmosphere.
