Four French Gilded Bronze Chamber Candlesticks from the Estate of Bunny Mellon

These four small chamber sticks are from France and have a makers mark and marked made in France. Made circa 1950 the set is very finely cast with nice tight bead work trim around the edge. The gilding is done in the antique fashion of fire gilding with mercury. A very costly and time consuming deadly practice very little done in this century and only by the finest workrooms. They may never have even been used as when found in a drawer at Oak Springs Farm, her Virginia Estate they still had a bag unopened of candles designed to fit the candle cups which come with the set. We represent many varied items from the Mellon estate and have been proud to disseminate her life’s achievements through her collecting skills.
