Antique French Early 19th Century Charles X Gilded Bronze Mantel Clock

About the Item

This antique mantel clock features blue hands and a fully gilded rim. The heavily ornamented base on which the clock sits is also gilded. A beautiful girl in a dress with puffed sleeves and a little dog complete the ensemble. Clock is complete and recently serviced. Early 19th century. The Charles X period, which spanned from 1824 to 1830, was characterized by a return to ornate, decorative styles after the more subdued aesthetics of the earlier Empire period. French clockmakers during this time were renowned for their craftsmanship and created some of the most exquisite and elaborate clocks of the period.
