Antique Onyx and Gilt Bronze & Brass Mantel or Table Clock w. Enameled Dial Face

About the Item

Great colors & wonderful design antique clock from the early 1900s. Just from looking at the stunning design, multiple quality materials and amazing details one can see that this remarkable antique clock could only have been hand-crafted by a skilled French maker. Looking at this beautiful antique clock is pleasurable and one thing, but only when you truly come to realize how many time consuming techniques and expensive materials it has taken to create this piece will you start to see this clock for what she really is. They just don't make anything like this anymore. If you look closely you will also see that at some point in time some restaurations seem to have been done to the onyx body of this fine looking clock, but to us this only gives this antique clock more character. The enameled dial face with the hand-painted numerals and perfect dial hands could not be in better condition and the guilding of the bronze parts too is as good as you can find. The clock mechanism runs and strikes perfectly as well and thanks to the contrast between the black numerals and the light enameled background, telling time from a distance is easy as well. Mind you, our sharp price for this work of time telling art even includes perfect packing and also worldwide shipping from our store to your door in just 4 to 6 days. Maximum height x width x depth: 17.9 x 10.4 x 5.9 inches. We have a passion for the unique, for quality, for stylish yet practical and for craftsmanship of years gone by. Your purchases will be extremely well packaged and we look forward to serving you (again).

Rare and stunning majolica glazed antique clock from the European Art Nouveau era. If you like rare Arts & Crafts antiques in general and marvelous clocks in particular then this handcrafted table clock from circa 1900-1910 could be the perfect addition to your collection / interior. When you understand how many difficult and time consuming techniques it took to create this antique work of time telling art, will you really be able to appreciate its beauty, rarity and quality. First of all, it would have taken a designer several days, if not weeks, to hand draw this design and this would take multiple sketches. Secondly, a ceramics specialist created the perfectly shaped and glazed majolica 'clock house'. This requires glazing and heating/'baking' in the keln and there too many things can go wrong. Thirdly, the aesthetically beautiful flower sculptures that you now see in gilt bronze, would first have to be sculpted out of clay or another material. From that initial sculpture a mold would have to be made and that mold would then be filled with extremely hot liquid bronze. The bronze sculpture would then have to be sanded, polished and gilt. Fourthly, in both the glazed ceramic clock house and the bronze flowers...
