About the Item

Fine French 19th century gilt bronze figural Louis XV style clock. The crest showing a pair of Bacchanale subject putti, one reclining on a naturalistic rocky outcropping with a chalice in one hand and a pair of batons in the other, while the second teasingly holds a cluster of grapes just over the mouth of his reclining companion. The body of the clock rendered in ornate, flowing scrolls and foliate garlands surrounding a circular white enameled clock face with two winding key holes. The clock is in working condition complete with key. It is in excellent state of preservation. The back hinged door to the clock mechanism showing slight wear commensurate with age as shown in the photos. Delightful subject and superb hand chiseled bronze details. 15.75 inches high 19 inches wide 8 inches deep.
