French Louis Xv1 Style Striking Figural Ormolu-Mounted White Marble Clock

About the Item

A wonderful French Louis XV1 style striking figural ormolu-mounted white marble clock. The beautifully cast figures of Venus and Cupid are springing from clouds, with burning torcher at their feet and a dog between them symbolising eternal love and fidelity. The whole group is on foliage-mounted marble plinth raised on ormolu toupee feet. The enamel dial is bright and clean with finely pierced ormolu hands. The clock has a twin barrels movement with anchor escapement and strikes the hours and half hours on a fine bell. A similar clock is exhibited at the Elysée Palace in Paris. We provide a full guarantee for one year; in the unlikely event your clock stops working we will take it back and repair it at no additional cost.
