French Ormolu Bronze Sèvres Porcelain Mantle Clock Vincenti et Cie, Paris

About the Item

A fine early to mid-19th century French Ormolu and Porcelain Mounted mantel (fireplace) Clock of outstanding Quality and impressive proportions. Eight-day duration movement, striking the hours and half hours on a bell, with an outside countwheel. The circular white enamel dial having dark blue Roman hour numerals, black outer Arabic five-minute markings, gilt brass decorative pierced hands. Signed Gantier A Paris and the movement with a circular plaque reads “Vincenti et Cie Medalle Dargent”. The Ormolu case with a central seated Cherub holding an etched plaque amongst floral swags. The main clock case is lavishly decorated with hand painted porcelain Sèvres style inset plaques with raised tooled gilding, raised on original four beaded toupie feet. Condition: Superb condition complete with pendulum and key. Original cushioned glass hinged door is present, some loss to gilding at high points. Measures: Height (entire) 15.75" (40cm), width (at base) 13.5” (34.25cm), depth (at base) 5.5” (14cm). Location: Dublin City, Ireland.

Wooden Mantel Clock Vincenti et Cie Late 19th century The mechanism is marked "Vincenti et Cie, Médaille d'Argent 1855, Made in France." Vincenti et Cie, established in 1823 by Jean Vincenti in Montbéliard, was revitalized by Albert Roux in 1829, who expanded and innovated the company. Under Roux's leadership, the firm continued its Montbéliard operations and opened a store in Paris in 1850 on Rue d'Anjou in the Marais.
