About the Item
Very rare, perfectly running and sculptural, French Art Deco marble pendulum clock.
Movement: Japy Frères (1806-1930)
If you are looking for an attractive antique mantel clock to grace your living space then this large and striking specimen (no pun intended) from the early 1900s could be perfect for you. Most people don't look at antiques the way most collectors and enthousiasts do, because most people don't understand how much skill and time it would have taken to create, for example, this amazing clock. It is therefor too that most people don't realize that this clock actually is a work of art. But also because it takes imagination, passion, knowledge of materials as well as an understanding of all things cultural and meaningful to be able to keep creating (in this case) clocks that are unlike anything there ever was. And whomever created this fine clock really presented the world with a one of a kind 'work of time telling art'. The reddish marble and green onyx base (or clock house) with the stylish bronze dog and cat sculptures alone will have taken many days to design and execute. The square brass dial face with the black Roman numerals and beveled glass front too is a work of art in itself. All these elements combined literally lift this wonderful antique clock above the average. What makes this clock ofcourse stand out are the wonderfully stylized bronze dog and cat. Their postures and ball playing activity makes this incredible clock come alive even more and they will bring a smile to anyone's face. This antique clock also comes with the antique key for winding its perfect working, eight-day clock AND striking mechanism, that runs as smoothly as can be and it strikes an elegant bell sound on the halves and whole hours.
Thanks to its good size this truly beautiful clock can be placed on your sideboard, your desk and it will also look marvelous on your wooden or marble mantel. Needles to say that this stunning and one of a kind antique clock will never fail to impress.
