About the Item
The name on the face "Lepaute" refers to two brothers, Jean Baptiste and Jean Andre Lepaute, who were French clockmakers to the King in the 18th century. They are credited with many innovations in keeping time and designed several clocks in the city of Paris, one of which still keeps accurate time today at the Ecole Royale Militare.
