Industrial French Wall Clock, Original Japy Frères Dial – Urban Decay Patina
This hauntingly beautiful wall clock features an original painted metal dial by Japy Frères, salvaged from a long-abandoned French industrial site. Time has etched its own story onto the surface — with pitted rust, flaking cream paint, and a frame washed in faded blue, bordered by a classic Greek key motif.
The original blued steel hands, now richly corroded from decades of neglect, remain intact and in place. Once driven by a mechanical movement, now long gone, our specialist has sympathetically upgraded it with a discreet quartz battery movement — allowing it to keep perfect time while retaining the original winding shaft and hands.
The tole (painted sheet metal) dial has been clear-coated to preserve its raw, oxidized character — a frozen moment of decay captured and protected. A powerful decorative piece that speaks of industrial history, dereliction, and beauty in decline.
