Antique Mahogany and Brass Single Fusee Timepiece Dial Clock

About the Item
A beautifully crafted antique mahogany eight day single fusee timepiece 10” dial clock made by Maple and Co., London. The clock is designed to run for eight days on a single winding of the mainspring. The clock features a single fusee mechanism, which is a type of gearing system that helps regulate the speed at which the clock runs.
Maple & Co. was a British furniture manufacturer established in 1841 which found particular success during the Victorian and Edwardian eras. The company became one of the prime makers and suppliers of furniture to the aristocracy and royalty in both the United Kingdom and around the world.
This is a very attractive wall clock of a smaller than usual size. The clock’s case is made of a rich deeply coloured mahogany, with a dovetailed back box with lower and side access doors and held together by four turned pegs, glazed and hinged brass bezel with inner silvered sight ring.
There are substantial plates to single line fusee movement with anchor escapement and heavy lead filled brass pendulum. The dial retains its original ground work. The signature and chapters have been professionally cleaned and retouched where they have faded. The dial is 10” diameter with painted Roman dial signed ‘MAPLE AND CO., LONDON, blued steel hands
This clock is a true work of art, combining beauty and function in a way that is both timeless and enduring. It is testament to the enduring appeal of Fine craftsmanship and Classic design, and is sure to be a cherished and treasured possession for generations to come.
Minor marks and light surface blemishes, fine cracking where the back box case joints have moved over the century. These are a good sign that the clock is in very original condition.
