About the Item

Hand-modeled sculpture composed of two elements in white clay. The still-fresh surface is incised and scratched. Transparent glaze over brown engobe. Presented in 2022, the collection consists of five large-scale sculptures. The forms evoke organic elements and decorative or chromatic details inspired by textures found in the Bitossi Archive. The fluid, soft, nature-inspired forms are crafted using slab-building and slip-casting techniques and finished with a range of surfaces from earthy matte tones to luminous gold and platinum glazes. Each piece retains visible traces of the artisanal process: corrugated cardboard impressions, rough hand-worked textures, and expressive fingerprints left by the sculptor, transmitting a powerful creative energy. Design by Faye Toogood Faye Toogood (United Kingdom, 1977) has made sustainability, material research, and the fusion of different creative disciplines the defining features of her work. Her creations — whether garments, furniture, or artworks — are sculptural expressions that reinterpret the past through a contemporary lens.
