About the Item

This creation in porcelain is an artistic exercise conceived by the Japanese designer Yasumichi Morita for Lladró that speaks to us of the beauty of life and of the importance of dreams. Hopes and dreams that blossom with the same beauty as flowers, which bloom in the most unexpected places. An homage to the joy of life, whose first version was in a range of blues and which is now represented with 268 black, white and grey hand painted flowers. All made by hand, petal by petal, with the same delicacy and attention with which all great dreams are drawn. This creation is a limited edition of 100 units. Morita is a renowned interior designer behind many major award-winning projects in cities like Tokyo, London and New York. His conception of the spaces and objects he creates is based on an aesthetic that combines minimalism with sumptuous, elegant materials.

Guest by Kzeng Jiang, Little, Numbered Series
By Lladro
Located in New York City, NY
Porcelain sculpture created by the Chinese artist Kzeng Jiang for The Guest collection. This version of The Guest is by Kzeng Jiang, the first Chinese artist to join the creative universe of this iconic character. The work of the Shanghai-based designer reflects the contemporary culture of Asia in vibrant, radical illustrations. Kzeng seeks to render his cultural roots through symbols of traditions like Chinese facial painting or flower painting from the Song dynasty, reinterpreting these elements in his own personal style. In this case, for instance, he is portrayed with three big eyes on his face which, according to Kzeng, “allow him to see the past, present and future as if he were a messenger travelling through time.” As regards color, Kzeng chose blue tones on the white porcelain to ensure a sense of visual harmony and balance. He then combines these colors with touches of golden luster in order to convey the sensation of prestige associated so closely with ancient Chinese porcelain...

Unique Porcelain Sculpture by Olivia Walker
By Olivia Walker
Located in New York, NY
Nest I, 2022 (Porcelain, C. 4.3 in. H x 6.7 in. W x 6.7 in. D., Object No.: 3922) Olivia Walker works in porcelain to create pieces that explore the symbiotic relationship between growth and decay, as well as the relationship between nature and man-made. All of her works start by being thrown on the wheel, before being built upon with thousands of individually-applied fragments of porcelain. Many of her vessels are thrown and altered – they are cut away and reassembled in the leather-hard stage which allows her to deconstruct the form of the bowl and then build up a surface on this new form. Olivia starts from a set point on a bowl and lets these organic accretions spread out and grow – ‘eating through," or growing over the form beneath. They make reference to organisms such as coral and fungus, but remain abstract. Olivia Walker was born in 1985 and lives and works in London. Her work was featured in numerous publications including Emerging Potters Magazine, Clay Craft...
