Sculpture, Stone Sculpture Representing the Oeil Oudjat.

About the Item

Sculpture, stone sculpture representing the Oeil Oudjat. Magnificent reproduction of a sandstone amulet, hand-carved by our craftsmen, representing an Oudjat, a protective symbol in ancient Egypt. This symbol has its origins in Egyptian mythology: Horus, son of Isis and Osiris, fought his uncle Set to avenge his father. During this fight, Set gouged out his eye and cut it into pieces, which he threw into the Nile. The eye was then reconstituted, creating the Eye of Udjat. This eye had a magical function, linked to the prevention of disease and the vision of the invisible. A protector against bad luck, it was depicted on sarcophagi, pectorals and used during mummification. Material: Sandstone H: 29 cm, W: 21 cm, D: 8 cm Weight: 1.7 kg
