About the Item

Small brown rituals vase by Lisa Geue Dimensions: D 17 x W 16 x H 16 cm Materials: Terracotta, Shino glazes, multiple firings Non-functional. By researching ancient and indigenous rites, practices, and rituals, Geue observes the meaning of the vessel and reinterprets resurfacing shapes and forms. As in all of her works, Geue creates her own glazes using minerals, shells, soda, and Shino glazes. The selected collection of works seek to honor the status of the vessel, its artisanal tradition, cultural use, symbolic value, and outlasting relevance as a utilitarian object. Rituals are an ongoing project. Every piece is unique as Lisa Geue uses the coiling technique. She creates her own glazes using minerals, carbides, carbonates, sand, soda, wood ash, and found shells. Colors may vary on photos. *imperfect —— pieces might appear to have/have „flaws“, e.g. small cracks which do not affect appearance nor function. Lisa Geue works primarily in ceramic, creating ancient shape-inspired vessels and organic-looking sculptures with a focus on form and experimental glazing. With a background in photography and ? lm, composition plays a role in both, the visual language and the photographic archive-like work. Born 1988 in East Germany, she went to Academy of Visual Arts Leipzig from 2013 - 2019 to study Photography. Then moving to Berlin, she worked for Galleries like Julia Stoschek Collection. In 2019 she traveled to Naarm (Melbourne) and Jan Juc, Australia and lived at the ocean. Deepening her connection with nature, natural processes like mineralization, decomposition of coastal rocks through saltwater or cycles like high and low tide, have become inspiration for her clay practice. Geue has always appreciated and felt drawn to indigenous practices and ancient techniques which have been a signi?cant in?uence in terms of resourcing mindfully and appreciating the craft she is doing.

Brown Dark Vase by Eguzkiñe Egaña
Located in Geneve, CH
Brown Dark Vase by Eguzkiñe Egaña Unique Piece. Dimensions: W 14 x D 14 x H 20 cm. Materials: Terracotta, slip and enamel. Eguzkiñe Egaña Corta studied advertising and for more than 20 years has worked as a graphic designer. About 12 years ago, surrounded by a completely digital world, she felt the need to create with her hands and it is from there that she took up her drawings and illustrations and began to create with ceramics. She has completed a Master’s degree at the University of the Basque Country: “Ceramics; art and function” and combines her work as a designer and illustrator with contemporary artistic creation. She also teaches ceramics classes at the municipal school of Zarautz, a city in the Basque Country where she lives. She feels the need to explore the relationship between identity and self-knowledge. Work with the concepts; interior, exterior, return, connect, ancestral and artisanal, establishing a relationship between us and our environment, as well as between us and our ancestors, either emotionally, empathetically or through objects that somehow transport us to a hypothetical place in the past, both for its aesthetics and for the ways in which they have been created. Human beings are containers of desires, fears, expectations. Sometimes it is necessary to empty ourselves of everything that clutters the mind. On many occasions the artist works with turned containers...
