This version of The Guest is by Kzeng Jiang, the first Chinese artist to join the creative universe of this iconic character. The work of the Shanghai-based designer reflects the contemporary culture of Asia in vibrant, radical illustrations. Kzeng seeks to render his cultural roots through symbols of traditions like Chinese facial painting or flower painting from the Song dynasty, reinterpreting these elements in his own personal style. In this case, for instance, he is portrayed with three big eyes on his face which, according to Kzeng, “allow him to see the past, present and future as if he were a messenger travelling through time.” As regards color, Kzeng chose blue tones on the white porcelain to ensure a sense of visual harmony and balance. In 2012 she moves to New York City and works for Calvin Klein Collection as VP Creative Product Development.
She decides in 2018 to reconnect with her creative side. She was drawn to the bold arrangement of flowers combining her remarkable eye for beauty and her uncanny attention to details now highly refined from her work for Couture collections. Marcella is inspired to explore more enduring ways embody and embolden fresh arrangements, and reinvents herself as The Art Flower Maker, where her ephemeral creations are permanently captured through both photography and sculpture.

Hannah Simpson is a ceramic artist, based in Kent, UK. With a passion for creating unique items, Hannah's work continues to challenge the line between art and design.
Hannah graduated from Loughborough University in 2019 with a 1st Class Honours in Fine Art. During her time at university, Hannah opted to take part in an industrial placement year where she interned in Eindhoven, Netherlands for designer Nacho Carbonell. Whilst on this internship Hannah developed a passion for functional art work and began combining ideas from her knowledge of art and philosophy with design to create biomorphic sculptures that often resemble mystical creatures.
For the past year Hannah has continued to develop her work to combine functional design with fine art. Hannah’s work is inspired by religion, myth and instinctive thoughts, with particular focus on the relationship between order and chaos. She creates sculptures that change how a space is used, allowing the viewer to remove themselves from reality and instead be surrounded by surreal objects...
