This incredibly detailed, hand-carved cow can only be from the Swiss Black Forest region around the lake of Brienz. This simply can only be the work of a Swiss master carver, because to be able to create this much detail on a relatively small sculpture takes a god given talent and a lifetime of experience. With the anatomy, the posture AND the balance being perfectly correct, this work of art is simply devine. An experienced antique dealer once learned us that a great sculpture looks good from all angles and that certainly is the case with this striking cow. Some of the details are so intricate, you would think that it took a needle to carve them. Apart from the muscles and bones, in some areas you can even see the veins and the patina is second to none as well.
