Old Signed Carved Inuit Sculpture of a Salmon Fish Attributed to Simon Pov

A fine carved stone sculpture. In the form of a salmon or other fish. In 2 parts. Comprised of salmon fish supported on a carved plinth joined by a central wooden dowel. Signed Pov likely for Simon Pov. With Inuit characters possibly for Port Harrison / Inukjuak. Simply a wonderful Indigenous carving! Date: Carved with '46' likely for the date 1946. Overall Condition: It is in overall fair, as-pictured, used estate condition. Condition Details: There are some small scratches, chips, blemishes, and dings throughout. Otherwise, there are some fine & light surface scratches and other signs of expected light wear consistent with age. Maker: Simon Pov or Abraham Pov Marks: Signed to the bottom of the base Pov / 46 / unidentified Inuit characters Measurements: Height: ca. 3 1/2 in. Length: ca. 9 1/2 in. Width: ca. 2 3/4 in. This sculpture is a series of two stylized human figures intermixed with two representations of presumably Spirits, which has several carved faces in them.
