White Onyx Polar Bear by Alfred Lyndhurst Pocock (Faberge Sculptor 1905-1915)
By Alfred Lyndhurst Pocock
Located in Newark, England
Onyx Polar Bear on a Rock Crystal Iceberg From our Sculpture collection, we are thrilled to offer this White Onyx Polar Bear by Alfred Lyndhurst Pocock. The Polar bear beautifully carved with a naturalistic look finished with cabochon ruby eyes stood upon a natural rock crystal base simulating an iceberg. The Polar Bear was carved by the Faberge sculptor Alfred Lyndhurst Pocock (1882-1962) during the first half of the 20th century circa 1920. Provenance this sculpture was owned by the family of Percy and Winifred Bottley. The Bottleys ran the gem dealership Gregory & Bottley from the 1930s (later Gregory, Bottley & Lloyd), and worked with Pocock supplying him with gemstones for his carvings. When Pocock died...

Liberty's London Camel Sculpture with Lovely Aged Leather on Hand Carved Wood
Located in Pulborough, GB
We are excited to present this camel sculpture with lovely aged leather on hand-carved wood. It has been made for Liberty's in London. This full-grown and very realistic dromedary or camel has both great aesthetic and decretive value. They have been made for the kids of the wealthy people that shopped by Liberty's. Underneath the leather, the hide is a very well-carved wooden sculpture which is why the sizeable camel has such realistic features. It is a very realistic sculpture and a good size, it also has the original leather which makes it even rarer. We feel that the maker of this work of animal art has beautifully captured the look and soul of this majestic desert animal...

George III Blue John Panther
Located in New Orleans, LA
One of the only known sculptures rendered in Blue John to exist in the world, this extraordinary George III panther exemplifies Georgian sophistication. Georgian — and later Regency — aesthetics revived classical themes of the ancient Mediterranean and Near East. With a proud stance, gaping jaw and unyielding gaze, the stately panther closely resembles the grand ancient Roman panthers often carved from marble as trapezophoros table supports. The regal cat rests atop a plinth, also made of Blue John, with Siena and Ashford marble detailing. The intrinsic and richly hued mineral inclusions of the Blue John replicate the textures and colors of the animal’s fur. The rare stone is a variety of natural calcium fluorite found exclusively in Derbyshire, England. It was first discovered in the early 18th century, but its mining did not being until circa 1760. Blue John was a wildly popular material in the decorative arts during the Georgian and Regency...
