1950s Neo classical Gold Patinated Plaster Bust of Giulio Cesare
About the Item
A gold patinated plaster bust of Giulio Cesare from a Gipsoteca in a sicilian academy of fine arts. They used to patinate the plasters in different ways, this one has been made with gold, amber and brown for this amazing result also given of the time, probably they used them for theater sets. Plaster was a common material for sculptures known for its versatility and ability to capture fine details, the use of gold patina involves applying a thin layer of gold-colored finish onto the surface of the sculpture. This technique adds a luxurious and classical aesthetic to the piece. The bust depicts the Roman general and statesman Julius Caesar with his distinctive hairstyle, a laurel wreath and a stern but noble countenance.
