1950s Neoclassical Gilded Plaster Sicilian Bust of Venere di Milo

This exquisite bust captures the essence of Neoclassical aesthetics, featuring a meticulous rendering of the timeless beauty of the Venere di Milo (Venus de Milo), a celebrated ancient Greek statue. It came from a Gipsoteca in a sicilian academy of fine arts. They used to patinate the plasters in different ways, this one has been made with gold, amber and brown for this amazing result also given of the time, probably they used it for theater sets. Plaster was a common material for sculptures known for its versatility and ability to capture fine details, the use of gold patina involves applying a thin layer of gold-colored finish onto the surface of the sculpture. This technique adds a luxurious and classical aesthetic to the piece.
