Striking Art Deco terracotta bust, beautifully patinated in deep green tones, depicting a strong male portrait with a dynamic, expressive profile. The sculpture captures both vitality and elegance, characteristic of early 20th-century portrait busts. Mounted on a solid black marble base, the piece displays a powerful presence and refined craftsmanship.
The work is signed to the reverse by J. Dommisse (Jean Dommisse, 1878–1955), a Belgian sculptor known for his portrait busts and expressive figurative works. Dommisse studied at the Académie Royale des Beaux-Arts in Brussels and exhibited widely during the first half of the 20th century. His works often reveal a sensitivity to natural form combined with a modern, stylized Art Deco influence.
