About the Item

A fine quality sculpture in terracotta from late Romanticism period. It has a rich ocher-brown patina. Beautiful and very attractive bust with very fine chiselure. Talented sculpting work, combined with a strong ability to interpret. Notice the beautiful, downcast look and the more expressive and tender expression. Fréderick la Route (Toulouse, France, 1851-1917) At an early age he was attracted to art of sculpture. He first took lessons with Charles Drouet, later he was strongly influenced by Rodin. In his artistic early days he devoted himself to decorating facades and churches. Later he mainly made busts and bas-reliefs and even medals. His oeuvre is very varied, he worked with plaster, terra-cotta, marble, cast iron, bronze and stone.
