Pair of French 19th Century Louis XVI St. Bronze and Ormolu Cherub Busts

About the Item

A striking and most elegant pair of French 19th century Louis XVI st. patinated bronze and ormolu cherub bust on their original Coquiller de Bilbao marble pedestal columns. Each column is raised by a square base with a fine mottled border and a central circular column with a socle shaped support and square top. The charming and high quality patinated bronze and ormolu busts above depict two cherubs each raised on a square base with a most elegant patinated bronze and ormolu socle shape pedestal support. The cherub to the left displays a lovely ormolu accent draped over his should with pine cones and foliate designs in his hair while the cherub to the right displays a foliate reserve at his front with beautiful richly chased Bacchanalian grape vines in his hair. Pedestal height: 44".
