Vintage Indian Noble Papier Mache Maharajah Bust Sculpture
About the Item
A very large and absolutely charming vintage Indian papier mâché portrait bust of a male Maharajah (Raja or Indian noble prince).
Born in India, circa 1960, richly detailed hand painted polychrome decoration, the distinctively textured three dimensional sculpture quality gives this mid-century decorative object a sense of whimsical elegance, warmth, and unique artistic depth that can be seen from any direction.
Dimensions: (approx)
20" high, 13" wide, 10" deep.
Great shape overall with nicely aged patina over the whole, enhanced by minor expected signs of wear, including light rubbing and distressed finish losses, possible old touch up repairs, all consistent with age, and adding to the rich antique character, charm and authenticity.
