18th Century Meissen Turkish Pair holding sweetmeat / table salt bowls

About the Item

18th Century Meissen Porcelain, Pair of Turkish figures holding sweetmeat / table salt bowl. These sweetmeat figures were made around 1745, the original models being done by J F Eberlain and show the fashion for Orientalism popular at the time. Crossed swords mark to rear of base, and reputable London dealer stamps indicating c1745 manufacture date. Very good condition, no sign of restoration, just a small chip off a base flower on the female and a couple of small cracks / scratches on the back of the male coat.
