Very finely crafted bronze sculpture from the period of French Art Deco.
Attributed to the sculptur Max Le Verrier.
The antelope is jumping, the dynamics and movement of the animal is very well captured in the depiction.
The bronze is brown, the horns a little darker.
The object rests on a stepped natural stone base which gives the whole a special sophistication.
Biography
Louis Octave Maxime Le Verrier, short Max Le Verrier
(born January 29, 1891 in Neuilly-sur-Seine, France; † June 6, 1973 in Paris, France) was a French sculptor.
Le Verrier was the son of a Parisian goldsmith and jeweler; his mother was from Belgium. His parents separated when he was seven years old. He attended several boarding schools, including the École des Roches in Verneuil-sur-Avre.
Against Max's wishes, his father sent him to study agriculture at Saint-Sever and La Réole. At the age of 16, he returned to Paris and took odd jobs to avoid working in agriculture. In 1909, he left France and moved to London for a short time, where he found it difficult to find work.
Le Verrier worked at a flying school in Rendon, where he first serviced aircraft and then earned his pilot's license in 1913. During World War I, he saw action in a French bomber squadron beginning in February 1915. On May 25, 1915, he was shot down in a dogfight by a German fighter plane...

Alexandre Zeitlin (French/American, 1872 - 1946) was an outstanding sculptor known for his portrait busts. Alexander Zeitlin was born in Tiflis, Georgia (Russian Empire), in 1872. He held his first art exhibition in his hometown in his early teens. At first, the novice sculptor studied at the Vienna Academy of Fine Arts (1890–1894), where his portrait busts of Archduke Otto were noted.
He then studied at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris. Zeitlin's ‘Despair’ statue and a portrait bust of the opera singer Jeanne Hatto were among the first to receive public recognition. Durenne, Paris'. Antoine Durenne was an internationally renowned French art founder. He attended École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in 1842. Durenne purchased a small foundry in Sommevoire, near the Val d'Osne, Haute-Marne, France and established The Durenne firm, circa Paris, 1900.
Cast-iron had been in production during the 18th century but its inferior status to the more fashionable and delicate wrought iron had generally confined its use to architectural work. By the early 19th century, however, rapid developments of the Industrial Revolution combined with the simultaneous burgeoning of a new middle class provided the impetus for a dramatic Expansion in its application and in a short space of time a proliferation of iron foundries across Europe and America thrived on the production of everything from inkstands to railway stations. The use of cast-iron for garden ornament became particularly widespread at this time, as the possibilities for its mass-production at a fraction of the cost of bronze made it the material of choice for outdoor statuary...

Exceptional goldscheider figurine with lamp of the 1920s:
A harlequin lost in thought is depicted in a costume elaborately decorated with a fine floral pattern in shades of blue and yellow. His cap, the ruff and the strap shoes are kept in dark brown. Under his left arm he holds a gray umbrella to which an electrified metal lantern is attached.
The figure is positioned on a snow-covered earth base.
Particularly loving and delicate execution of the painting.
Designed by B. Haniroff (XIX - XX) around 1905
