Cold Painted Austrian Orientalist Man on Rug in Prayer, Bergmann, ca. 1915

About the Item

This very colorful and exotic bronze is typical of the work of Franz Bergmann. While it does not bear his foundry mark, it has all the ear marks of his work. The subject, the quality and most of all these are specifically the colors he used when having the bronze cold painted. This is actually a rare model. There is a very similar one with the shoes off to the side, but the figure is different and the rug is much smaller. This is a good size and it does bear the mark "Austria" under the rug. A fine example of the work of the master of this genre, Mr. Bergmann.
