Museum quality Amazing female mask "Pwo", Chokwe, Tshokwe Angola / Democratic Republic of Congo. Wood with Gorgeous reddish patina, vegetal fibers, iron earrings, pearls... Very beautiful scarifications on nose, forehead and cheeks. On the forehead are the triangles of the tattoo known as cingelyengelye. Originally, cingelyengelye occurred as a necklace in the form of a cross, ... Amazing carving quality, First part of 20th century. Provenance : Collection of the Professor D. Vangroenwehe, MD, doctor of anthropology (label on the base of the mask). Provenance: Collection of Jacques Dulhoste. Condition: Very good condition, some marks, minor cracks, used parts Measurements: H.7"1/8 Mask only, without hair H.19"1/2 x 7" x 7" (with the hair and the base).
