About the Item

An impressive and high quality French 19th century Louis XVI st. Belle Époque period Rouge Griotte marble, ormolu and patinated bronze clock and bust by Emile Colin & Cie and A. Carrier. The clock is raised by unique and extremely decorative curved foliate ormolu feet below exceptional rosettes and pierced fitted ormolu plaques with interlocking geometric patterns centering the clock face. The clock face displays Roman numeral hour markings and Arabic numeral minute markings with elegant pierced foliate ormolu hands framed by a fine beaded wrap around bezel. Richly chased berried laurel branches center the circular column support below the striking wonderfully executed patinated bronze bust of a beautiful maiden draped in a flowing garment tied with flower and wearing her hair in an updo.
