French 19th Century Louis XVI Style Bronze Statue of L'Enlevement des Sabines

A striking French 19th century Louis XVI st. bronze statue of L'Enlevement des Sabines signed Raingo Frères. The high quality bronze is raised by a circular base where the soldier's helmet and sword are lying on the ground. The handsome soldier is wearing his detailed armour grasping the beautiful Sabine woman in his arms. She is draped in period attire and raises her arms towards the sky in a sign of fear. Richly sculpted detail throughout, wonderful proportions. All original patina.
