    Cast in England in the 1900s using reconstituted stone, this charming pig and four piglets statue has developed a lovely weathered patina from exposure to the elements. Reconstituted stone is organic stone that has been crushed into small bits (if you look closely, you can still see pebble inclusions within the casting). These fragments are then combined with cement and sometimes coloring pigments are added to the mix. The resulting aggregate is poured into a mold where it is left to harden.     A large vintage bronze Neoclassical Revival sculpture of Pauline Bonaparte as Venus Victrix, by Antonio Canova, signed and dating from the late 20th Century. She is staged as a half-naked beauty on a couch, her head resting on her right arm, holding an apple in the left hand. The patinated bronze sculpture features gilt high-lights and is raised on a black marble base. It bears the replica signature of the artist, Canova. The original can be seen at the Museo e Galleria Borghese, in Rome. "Pauline Bonaparte as Venus Victrix", (Venus Victorious), is probably the most famous work by the Italian sculptor Antonio Canova. Pauline Bonaparte, sister of the French statesman Napoleon, insisted on being portrayed as Venus by Canova in 1807. Condition: In excellent condition, please see photos for confirmation.
