Old Japanese Wooden Buddha Statue /Edo Period/ Wooden Figurine /Yakushi Nyorai

About the Item

This is a wooden carved Buddha made in the late Edo period (1800s). This Buddha statue is Yakushi Nyorai. The Tathagata is the highest enlightened being in the Buddhist world. The Yakushi Nyorai is said to be the Buddha of medicine, and holds a pot of medicine in his left hand. This Buddha statue also holds a pot of medicine in his left hand. Also, his right hand is missing, and his right palm is normally facing the opponent. This Buddha statue is made of one piece of wood and is made of cedar wood and cypress. It is a simple carving, and it is thought that it was probably carved not by a Buddhist sculptor, but by a monk at a temple or a villager who could carve Buddha statues in the village. This Buddha statue has a gentle expression and gives a plump impression. While there are gorgeous Buddhist statues in large temples and other places, there are also Buddhist statues that are cherished and visible to farmers and villagers. This Buddha statue is sure to heal the hearts of many people. Because it was taken care of, it has survived to this day, and finally found its way to me. I would like to give this Buddha statue to someone who will cherish it. Try displaying it in your living room or entryway. Weight: 216g
