About the Item

Ulrica Hydman-Vallien can certainly not be accused of being ordinary. Her design has had its own style ever since the beginning of her artistic career. Already when Ulrica was 17 years old she became a student at the College of Arts, Crafts and Design in Stockholm, and went on to further study in the USA and Mexico. This bold and funny sculpture in clay show signs of inspirations from Mexico. Throughout her career, she has explored a variety of means of expression. It was only in 1972 that she started as a glass designer at Kosta Boda. Ulrica's hallmark was the painted glass, which has been very successful for a very long time. The intense idiom recurs in everything that Ulrica creates over the years. This colorful figurine in clay is unique and one of a kind. Signed Ulrica H V. Her work are represented in: National Museum of Modern Art, Tokyo, Japan Corning Museum of Glass New York, USA Victoria & Albert Museum, London, England Kunstmuseum, Düsseldorf, Tyskland, Nationalmuseum Stockholm. Powerhouse Museum Sydney, Australian. Museé d’Art Decoratifs, Paris, Frankrike Hokkaido Museum of Modern Art Japan The Israel Museum Jerusalem, Israel Museum of Glass ,International Center of International Art, Tacoma, USA.
