About the Item
Antique, mint and rare bronze statue of Jeanne D'arc, Frances most famous patron saint.
25 years after her short lived & heroic life, Joan of Arc, who had wrongly been sentenced to death at the young age of 19, was declared innocent and received the honorable title of 'martyr'. Many centuries later she was even declared holy and she is now (together with a few others) one of the patron saints of France. Probably more so than ever before, because of the strong women that she represents. The artisan who created this bronze in the mid to late 1800s managed to skilfully portray the heroic Joan of Arc. Both her natural and very realistic body posture and the marvelous details of her outfit are second to none. The striking shield and the way it is strapped to her arm is another one of a number of great details that together make this antique the eye-catching work of art that it is. Displayed on a pedestal stand or on a large desk this wonderful to look at, quality sculpture will also make a great talking piece. This bronze sculpture too is great value for money.
