About the Item
Gaetano Cecere N.A. was born in New York on November 26th, 1894, to Ralph Cecere and Catherine La Rocca. He studied with Hermon A. MacNeil at the Beaux-Arts Institute of Design. His service during World War I earned him a Soldier’s Medal for heroism. In 1920, after winning the Prix de Rome, he was the Rinehart Fellow at the American Academy of Rome. Cecere developed his faculties and style during this time, and earned the Alumni Medal for Collaboration while in attendance. He met his future wife at the Academy, a painter and distinguished artist in her own right, Ada Rasario. Upon returning to the United States, he was named the Director of the Department of Sculpture at the Beaux-Arts Institute of Design, where he taught Contemporary and Ecclesiastical Sculpture. He continued to teach, concurrent with his practice, for most of his life. Gaetano Cecere was a member of the National Sculpture Society, the National Academy of Design, and the Architectural League of New York.

Vintage Italian Plaster of Paris Sculpt Head Bust Sculpture with Black Wood Base
Located in North Miami, FL
This wonderful restored Italian vintage aqualine plaster of Paris head bust sculpture is so reminiscent of what would be in a museum setting. She has beautiful surreal features with great detail to her very detailed back hair. She sits on a black wood base. Her face is so wonderfully sculpted to perfection of Italian classical beauty. From either the side or frontal view she is beautiful. Please note that we have just done some restorations and cleaning to the plaster of Paris and wood base as it had a crack in it. This is now reflected in the price alteration. It looks amazing now. This is from the 1960s. Sorry the old photos...
