About the Item

Beautifully sculpted and -- appropriately -- cast by the General Bronze Corporation to honor its retiring President in 1934, this handsome Art Deco panel depicts three workers pouring molten bronze into molds at its foundry. Note a series of street lamp bases, column capitals and monuments in the background, symbolizing the wide array of architectural bronze work produced by General Bronze over the years. The sculptor was Franz Eue, a German-American sculptor who was known and respected for his medallic work and relief sculptures in Germany and America, including the Chicago World’s Fair Medal issued in 1933. The panel is signed.
