18th Century Italian Fragment Base on Agate and Mounted with Mica and Tourmaline

About the Item

Sculptural 18th century Italian candlestick base with natural-forming mica and tourmaline. The gilded fragment base was originally part of a candlestick in a historical Italian church in Italy. The piece is accented with an 18th century French metal trim and mounted on a polished agate base. The piece is put together by Jean O'Reilly Barlow, the artist and creative director of Interi. The date of manufacture reflects when she transformed the piece and the period shows that the Italian fragment is originally 18th century. The Italian church candlestick base artifact, tourmaline, mica, and polished agate base are put together in a sculptural form - creating a piece that appears to have evolved together over time. Interpreting the past to create a piece entirely original, evolving in its own right.
