About the Item

Chrome Diopside Samax Mine, Merelani Hills, Lelatema Mtns., Simanjiro Dist., Manyara Region, Tanzania 6.3cm wide x 4.5cm tall In 2007, some of the highest quality chrome diopside specimens were discovered in Tanzania. A limited number became available on the market before they were swiftly acquired. We have recently obtained one such outstanding specimen. A vibrant green chrome diopside crystal cluster. The crystals have sharp, well-defined faces and a translucent quality, allowing light to reflect and refract, enhancing the rich green tones. The cluster has multiple crystals emerging from a dark base, with the largest central crystal standing prominently above the others. The entire piece conveys a sense of natural complexity and geometric precision, highlighting the intricate beauty of the mineral formation. “Chrome diopside is colored by chromium, the same element that gives emerald its rich green color. This beautiful intense green color and its high refraction give the gem great brilliance and life…” - National Museum of Natural History website
