About the Item
'Painfully beautiful' sculpture.
To us this sculpture shows that there can be beauty in mourning. Anyone who has ever lost a loved one/someone really close to their heart can relate to what this father and daughter are going through. The way in which the sculptor has managed to create this father and daughter out of a solid piece of hardwood and give them their poisture and facial expression in such a realistic manner, is very impressive. The mourning is so intense that this can only be a father and daughter standing over the grave of their wife and mother. Knowing that the father is having to deal with his loss and at the same time having to be strong for his child, can make looking at this work of art painful. The skillful manner in which the artist has created this work of art and the intensity that it radiates, shows the respect of the artist for this subject matter. It has given this sculpture its unmistakable beauty and 'soul' and we are proud to be able to offer it to you also because of its fine condition. It is signed on the back RCM Coolen '46 and, as so often is the case, we cannot find any information on this clearly talented sculptor.
