Set of Four Vintage Green Glass Bottles Demijohns, Lady Jeanne or Carboys
Very decorative set of 4 old green blown and pressed glass bottles also know as Demijohn, Lady Jeanne, Dame Jeanne or Carboy. Made and used somewhere between early 20th century and 1960s. The two bulbous ones of them have a capacity of 25 Liters, one is even marked on the bottom with 25L this is approximately 6.5 US Gallons or 5.5 UK Gallons, both are produced in the 1960s, one free blown with 'industrial' pressed mouth, the other industrial blown and pressed. One holds 20 litres, it says so on the bottle, this is approximately 5.3 US Gallons or 4.4 UK Gallons. This bottle has a nice decorative rim, is free blow in a mould and has lots of pretty irregularities in the glass, it comes with a cork, this bottle is early 20th century. The highest 'large wine bottle shaped' probably also holds 20L (no sign) this is approximately 5.3 US Gallons or 4.4 UK Gallons. No signs of being blown in a mould and also with lots of pretty irregularities in the glass Sizes from big to small: high wine bottle: 58cm high, 20cm in diameter, 22.8" x 7.9" bulbous industrial blown: 50cm high, 36cm in diameter, 19.7" x 14.2" bulbous mouth blown: 48cm high, 35cm in diameter, 18.9" x 13.8" cork: 50cm high, 30cm in diameter, 19.7" x 11.8" These old glass bottles are characterised by bubbles and slight imperfections, they show hand manufacturing and generations of using.
