Pair Of Green Patina And Gilt Bronze Ewers, First Empire, Attributed To Ravrio

About the Item

Pair of 1st Empire aiguieres by sculptor Ravrio ( 1759 - 1814 ) in green patinated bronze and gilded bronze, the base is in sea-green marble. Of elongated baluster form, the necks and bases of these ewers are mounted with stylized palmettes, the handle is surmounted by an eagle's head grasping the rim of the ewer with its beak and decorated with acanthus leaves, it ends with a faun's head. The circular foot rests on a square base in sea-green marble enhanced by a gilded bronze frieze. High quality, like all the work of this Empire-period master bronzemaker who supplied the greats of the world such as Thomire and Claude Galle. The sculptor Ravrio was Napoleon's bronzemaker and Riesner was Louis XVI's cabinetmaker. 1st Empire period Perfect condition
